Together, they learned about butterflies, their habitats, and the plants that attract them. There were butterfly walks featuring experts at various locations in the park -- and a monarch presentation.
Children’s activities included a scavenger hunt, face painting, butterfly costume contest (for kids 12 and under), butterfly crafts and entertainment.
“We want to celebrate the comeback of the Meadowlands and its environmental biodiversity,” said Don Torino, event organizer and president of the Bergen County Audubon Society.
The society co-sponsored the event with the North American Butterfly Association's North Jersey Chapter.
